live near the greatest of all the Great Lakes: Lake Superior. Lake Superior provides a vista of beauty for photographers, a source of international commerce, and opportunities for hobbyists who love agate harvesting. I myself believe that Lake Superior--the largest, freshwater lake in the world--is not too shabby.
Come visit the North Shore if you never have! There is a wealth of industry and culture to explore. You may want to visit the Glensheen Mansion, the home of the infamous murder of heiress Elisabeth Congdon and a sight to behold with its sprawling existance on the big lake. Besides the many eateries in Duluth, touristy Two Harbors on Lake Superior's North Shore features the Vanilla Bean Restaurant, Rustic Inn Cafe, and Betty's Pies.
You even may be able to catch a ship/boat proceeding through the harbor or see the lift bridge rising to allow for the towering height of a vessel. Canal Park offers a fun day with horse carriage rides, Lake Superior Marine Museum, and the North Pier Ligthhouse. Top off your family event with eating at the kiosk or Grandma's Saloon & Grill.
Above all, take a moment to listen to the rhythm of the lake and absorb the grandeur of its multitudinous features.
